【Mumbai/Report by Sparsh Desai】 19 Grandmasters (GMs), 11 International Masters (IMs) and four WIMs representing 19 countries will participate in the Orionpro International Grandmaster Chess Tournament to be held from 16 to 24 June 2025 at the World Trade Center, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai. Which will have a prize money of Rs 40 lakh. This tournament includes the "International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament" with a prize money of Rs 25 lakh and the "Under-13 Tournament" with a prize money of Rs 15 lakh. This tournament is the world's highest prize money tournament for junior players. In the Under-13 tournament, young chess players from India and abroad will compete in four age groups Under-7, Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13. National winners will be provided free entry and accommodation. National school winners will also get free entry.  This will make the tournament accessible to the country's most talented and emerging talents. Ashish Rai, Group CEO, "Orionpro Solutions" said that the game of chess is no longer limited to certain geographical areas. It is spreading rapidly and widely across the world. He further said that we are seeing a wave of courageous, talented players ready to compete at the global level. This tournament marks the beginning of a new era filled with immense untapped potential. The tournament is being organized by "Indian Chess School", a prestigious institute in youth chess development. With participation expected from across the country and internationally, this tournament provides a unique platform for young talents to perform, experience and gain recognition. Praful Javeri, Founder, "Indian Chess School" said that the aim of this tournament has always been to inculcate analytical thinking and mental flexibility in the youth. He said that it is inspiring that a tech company like "Orionpro" has recognized that the skills that make a great chess player are also important to face today's digital challenges. Strategy is a universal language.  Whether it is in technology or on the board this partnership confirms this idea. With this partnership "Aurionpro International Grandmaster Chess Tournament" is set to become one of the leading tournaments in youth chess. This will be a powerful step for the future of the sport. This tournament has produced junior champions in previous editions. Who have made a place for themselves at the global chess level. This also includes the current world champion Gukesh. The top three winners of the Grandmaster tournament will get prize money of Rs 4 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. The winners of the Junior tournament will get Rs 3 lakh, Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively. Grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh of India has been given the top seed for the Grandmaster tournament. Grandmaster Levan Pantsulia of Georgia and Grandmaster Petrosian Manuel of Armenia have been ranked second and third respectively. Players from 6 countries are participating in the Junior tournament and 12-year old Fidemaster Ansh Nerurkar of Mumbai has been given the top seed.  The top four seeded players include Candidate Master Madhavendra Sharma, WIM Oshini Gunawardene of Sri Lanka, Harikrishna P. of the United States and Samar Dayal of England. 【Photo by •MMKoor•】
